Board and Deacon Nominations

Each November, the Nominating Committee selects five church members to stand for three vacancies, as mandated by the by-laws. The Board of Trustees has fiduciary responsibility for the tangible and intangible assets of the Unitarian Church of All Souls. In addition to financial oversight, a primary role of trustees is to discern and serve the mission of All Souls Church. The board focuses on comprehensive policy-making and oversight – not administrative detail. The full position description can be found here.

Each November, the Nominating Committee also selects Deacons; the Deacons are an elected group of long-standing members — senior not so much in the sense of age, but by dint of their participation in the affairs of All Souls. The full position description can be found here.

For both of these roles, the Nominating Committee welcomes suggestions from the congregation. Please complete the form below to nominate yourself or a fellow congregant.

This year’s Nominating Committee is Carol Emmerling (Co-chair), Peter Green (Co-chair), Alice Hemingway, Larry Reina, and Cory Labanow.

Section 3 – Question Regarding the Suggested Candidate to the Deacons

A Nominating Committee member will contact potential candidates to the Board of Trustees and Deacons prior to nomination. The Committee’s nominations are submitted at the November board meeting. In accordance with All Souls’ bylaws, the Committee must nominate five candidates for three open trustee positions, and thus nomination to the Board of Trustees does not ensure election. Election to the Deacons is by congregational voice-vote. The election is on the first Sunday in February at the annual meeting.
