In the Unitarian Universalist tradition, the congregation welcomes children into the warm and supportive environment of our religious community through a simple ceremony. Officiated by a minister and attended by parents and often other members of the family and sometimes godparents, the child is named, blessed and offered the gift of a rose, the symbol of the beauty of the child’s unfolding life. These dedications can take place during our Sunday morning worship services in the sanctuary, or they can be scheduled for the chapel at other times of the day and week. Sometimes, they happen in the family home.
