Join this supportive community to take a deep dive a single piece of creative work – perhaps a poem, a prose excerpt, or a visual artwork. Using a format developed at Columbia University, we’ll explore together how the text works and what it says to each of us. We’ll then write for just a few minutes and share a few pieces with each other. You’ll leave with new insights into the text, our community, and maybe yourself.
Cherie is a doctoral candidate in communications at Columbia University, focusing on narrative, illness and the end of life; she also holds a master’s from Columbia in narrative medicine. Previously, she was a staff editor and reporter at The Associated Press and The Miami Herald. She has facilitated writing workshops at sites including Columbia, Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center and Gilda’s Club.
